DIY Fridge Face Masks

Beautiful girls sitting on the couch in the room. Ladies in a green towel and with cucumber on their face

We could totally use a spa day! One euphoric day filled with hot stone massages, a pedicure with a glass of champagne in hand, and a facial that leaves skin radiant, smooth and brighter than it was before I was stuck in quarantine…Okay. Back to reality. That’s not happening any time soon. These delicious DIY face mask recipes are made quick and easy with ingredients that most of us have in our fridge and pantry! We picked some of the top skin-boosting items to concoct your very own spa-worthy treatments so you can get to relax and beautify while stuck at home!

Tip: To avoid chance of allergic reaction/irritation use patch test first by applying a small amount to the inside of your wrist and wait a couple hours before drenching your face in it! If you have a reaction, rinse it off immediately and discontinue use. Also organic ingredients can lower your chance of skin irritation by pesticides or chemicals.

Honey-Avocado Face Mask

For this homemade face mask, a dreamy mix of hydrating avocado, skin-cleansing raw honey (not the little plastic bear in the grocery store) and toning apple-cider vinegar delivers perfect pH balance for all types of skin.
Ingredients:
1/4 cup ripe avocado
2 tablespoons raw honey
1/2 teaspoon cider vinegar
Directions:
Combine all ingredients in food processor; process until smooth. (or mash in a small bowl with a fork until smooth.)
Apply a thin layer to clean, damp skin. Let dry, then rinse off and moisturize as desired. Oily skin types may not need additional moisturizer. This makes enough for 2-3 applications and should be used immediately.

Anti-Aging Face Mask
For this homemade face mask, we mix Grapes and Olive to create a moisturizing mask that promotes anti aging properties.
Grapes contain powerful antioxidants,  which promotes collagen growth and Olive Oil is ultra hydrating.
Ingredients:
1/4 cup grapes
2 teaspoons olive oil
Directions:
Mash the ingredients together, and place on skin. Let it soak for 20 minutes, and then rinse or gently wipe away with a damp cloth. Good for up to 5 days in the fridge.

Dull Skin Face Mask
If your looking for a homemade face mask that will give you a brighter, glowing complexion then this one is for you! The enzymes in the papaya are a natural exfoliator, so they go to work sloughing off dead skin cells, while the honey and egg white bind the mask together.
Ingredients:
1/2 cup mashed papaya
1 teaspoon honey
1 whipped egg white
Directions:
Mash the ingredients together, and place on skin. Let it soak for 20 minutes, and then rinse or gently wipe away with a damp cloth. Any unused mask should be thrown away.

Berry Mask

Berries are often referred to as a “superfood” because they are packed with antioxidants (protects your cells against free radicals) and phytoflavinoids (compounds that protect our bodies from stress). Basically these properties will smooth out fine lines and improve skin’s elasticity. Berries also include fatty acids which help soothe inflammation and hydrate and soften skin.

Ingredients:

2 Tablespoons plain yogurt
2 Tablespoons honey
¼ cup mixed berries (whatever’s on hand – strawberries, blackberries, raspberries, blueberries and acai berries)
1 Tablespoon lemon juice (you can omit this if you have sensitive skin or are easily irritated)

Directions:

In a blender, mix yogurt and honey until combined. Add mixed berries and lemon juice (optional) and blend until mixed.

Apply mixture to freshly cleansed face. Leave on for 10-15 min. (try to control yourself…dont lick the mask off your face, we know it smells yummy!), rinse face with lukewarm water.

Cucumber Mask

Cucumbers have long been used as a remedy for puffy eyes. They contain antioxidants that help reduce irritation and the cold reduces puffiness.

Cucumber is high in antioxidant vitamin C and caffeic acid which provides cool, calming relief for inflammation and irritation. Cucumber also has a high water content and the peel contains silica, which is know to help fight sag to firm skin and improve elasticity.

Ingredients:

½ cucumber, peel on
2 Tablespoons plain yogurt

Directions:

Puree cucumber in a blender. Add yogurt and blend until combined. Apply mask to clean face and leave on for 10-15 min., rinse with warm water.
